Koma 1.5 Is An Exoskeleton That Transforms Into Wheeled Scooter

A person seen wearing the Kona 1.5.

Over the last few years, we have seen several exoskeletons, both commercial and experimental, become a reality. Recently, Atoun, a company owned by Panasonic, announced it’s developing one of its own.

The suit, named Koma 1.5, is an exoskeleton with two wheels that transforms into a slow scooter when needed. In Buggy Mode, wheels are lowered to move on flat surfaces and in Two Legged Mode, the suit helps the wearer overcome uneven surfaces, as soon in the video below.

It seems a bit slow and heavy to use but definitely a step in the right direction. We’ll have to see what it looks like when it’s ready for production! What do you think of this exoskeleton? What kind of features and improvements may it need to be acceptable by the public?
