The fourth India International Deaf Film Festival is fast approaching! To be held in Bengaluru, India from December 28 – 30 of this year, the film festival was first started in 2010 to encourage deaf film makers to have a stronger presence in the world of film making.
Entries for the film festival are currently being accepted. There are four main categories which are duration based – 1 minute, 5 minutes, 15 minutes, and 30 minutes, and the themes for movies can be anything – documentary, experimental (untried/new), international, drama, action, horror, comedy, romance, sci-fi, or college/school student films. In order to get selected for screening, the film must meet one of the following criteria:
– It is made by a person with hearing impairment. (total or partial deafness)
– Deaf Characters should be featured in the film.
– The film is about real life experiences of deaf people.
The deadline for submission is October 30, 2016.
There are also cash prizes, trophies, and certificates to be won, and the winners will be announced at the end of the festival.
